Our good little sleeper

Grace has been such a good little sleep lately. I figure after 4 consecutive nights it's ok to write about now. She has been sleeping anywhere from 10-11 hours at night! Her normal wake up time is about 7:30 now. This week she has woken up at 7:07, 7:41, and 7:32. She figured out night time just before we hop on a plane and go back in time 15 hours. Can we just let her sleep from 5:30am to 4:30pm while we are in the states??

Bring Your Baby to Work Day??

Well, it wasn't officially Bring Your Baby to Work Day but Grace got to experience a morning in her Daddy's office! Today was quite the day. It started yesterday when I got a horrible toothache. I called the dentist and they made me an appointment for 7:00 this morning. So Dustin has to miss PT and I am hoping to be back in time to pick up the mamasan at 9:15 and let Dustin go to work. Oh, and housing maintenance was coming by at 8:00 to fix a clogged drain in my bathroom floor (we were hoping they would finish by 9:00 because that is about the time I leave to get the mamasan)I go to the dentist and I am home by 8:45! SCORE! Wait... I have to be back at 9:30? Yep, evidently I need a root canal and they can start that at 9:30. And Dustin has to go to work. All of our friends who we could leave Grace with are either in the states or at work. So she went to work with her Daddy in her PJ's!! Oh, and did I mention they could only START the root canal? Yeah, that's right. They won't be able to finish it until we get back from leave in about a month. Until then I have a sponge inside my tooth and a filling holding it in. On top of that, the dentist kept telling me how I am going to NEED codeine. He was pretty worried about my pain killers. I pretty much refuse anything stronger than a 400 mg ibuprofen so my records say I am allergic to TYLENOL. So after her prescribed the T3 I had to play 100 Questions at the pharmacy. But hey, he wanted to give it to me but that doesn't mean I am going to take it. If I were to take it I couldn't nurse Grace for several hours so I plan to let it just sit there. In the end I was able to pick Grace up at 11:30 and we spent the entire day at home napping and playing!

Rainy Days

So what do we do when it rains? Go for a walk or play some flag football! Well, actually we didn't plan to walk in the rain or play/watch flag football in the rain, it just happened that way.

On Saturday morning it rained quite a bit then cleared up that afternoon so we decided to take Grace on a walk. She loves to be outside! We put on sunscreen and her little sun hat and left. About half-way through our walk it started to rain. We had a nice and wet walk and Grace enjoyed watching the rain fall and hitting her face!

Sunday consisted of going to church, coming home for lunch, going to Dustin's office to get some work done (it took all three of us!) and then going back to church for evening service.

On Monday, several guys from church got together to play flag football. And again it rained! One of the ladies had a nice quilt and an umbrella so Grace was very bundled up (it was a little chilly) and we all stayed dry while sitting on the side-lines!

It's a long weekend!!

What better way is there to start a 4-day weekend than with a clean house? I think we are really spoiling ourselves and enjoying having our mamasan here every Thursday now! We actually have 2 Japanese ladies who I pick up every Thursday and they clean our house from top to bottom. All 3 bathrooms, dishes, laundry, floors, windows (including the OUTSIDE of the windows in our upstairs bedrooms!) - you name it, they clean it! So the rest of the week we just keep things picked up, do a little laundry and dishes and then let them do the deep cleaning. And we can also focus on organizing (or cleaning out Grace's closet!) but most importantly, we get to spend more time with our little angel!! That right there makes it totally worth the 7000 Yen we pay them.

So this weekend is Valentine's Day. Last night we went to see Bride Wars. There really isn't much of a selection here, especially if you are totally opposed to 9 o'clock movies and want to go on a certain day (our babysitter couldn't come on Saturday because she was babysitting for another family and Sunday is church and Monday is the day before a work/school day so that left Friday) We had a girl from church come over and watch Grace. We came home and the house was still standing and Grace was happy so all is good!! We will definitely have her watch Grace again. I think the rest of the weekend we will be sticking around the house. We have a couple movies to watch and nothing really to do. We might take Grace on a couple walks. I have all of her sun hats out and ready... last walk we took she kept trying to get her paci if it fell out and would end up with her hat covering her face. It was pretty cute so I will have to take a camera and see if I can get a picture if it happens again! And tomorrow is church. Grace loves the swing in the nursery at church so that is always a treat for her.

Now for a couple new pictures
Grace with her Daddy and the big cookie she got him for V-day

We took a few pictures of Grace the other day for her 2 month photos. She was more interested at trying to move than she was taking pictures. But I thought these were pretty cute. Grace makes faces like these a lot. In the first one she is trying so hard to talk and was pretty excited about something she was saying. The second one is a look she gives us when she is trying to figure out what is going on.

2 Months

Yesterday Grace turned 2 months old! It is hard to believe that 2 while months have passed since she was born. She is growing up so fast! We had her 2 month check-up yesterday and the doctor said she was good and healthy. She weighs 11 lbs. 8 oz. and is just a tad over 22 inches tall. She is in the 75th percentile on weight and the 50th in height. She also got her shots and did really well. She slept through it and didn't really cry much at all. She just cried in her sleep a little and as soon as the shots were done she was perfectly quiet again. And she had no side effects from them at all and was such an angel all day long!!

She is learning so much too. The doctor asked if she had developed a social smile yet and, of course, she has. She laughs and coos and has the biggest smile I have ever seen. She is a very happy baby! She has been making little sounds a lot lately. Yesterday she said "Mah." That is half-way to Ma-ma!! She as also been saying "Ah" "Ga" "Ah Ga" "Bah" "Oh" "Uh" and lots more. She rolls over and scoots and can sit upright on the sofa. She LOVES to stand in our laps and just talk and makes the cutest little faces. We can tell she really is trying hard to let us know something. She is also a good sleeper. She has been sleeping through the night quite often lately. She normally will sleep for at least 7 hours and sometimes even 8 or 9! And after she eats she goes right back down in her crib for about 2 - 4 more hours. Oh, and she can pick things up! If I lay her pacifier on the blanket that covers her legs in her carseat she will pick it up and try to put it in her mouth if she wants it. It is so cute to see her holding her paci in her hand and waving it around!!

I took her shopping yesterday and bought her some new bath toys and shoes (she's a girl, she has to love shoes!). Actually, she wouldn't have got them except for she was being such the little angel she is and was sound asleep in her stroller while I was picking up a few things at the BX and I didn't want to disturb her so I just walked through the store a bit longer. She actually got more than that too.. we got her a toothbrush (she needs to get used to it before she gets teeth so we will let her chew on it a bit until then), some new pacifiers that have cases, and some nose drops for her congested little nose (they helped a lot!).

I think I might try to take some pictures today or tomorrow to post. Our internet has been off and on a lot lately (mostly off). They are coming to look at it tomorrow so hopefully they can figure it out but most likely I won't be able to post anything until after they get it fixed because it cuts out a lot.

Cherry Blossom Pictures

I was trying to put a few more pictures on that last post but for some reason blogger wouldn't let me so here I am trying again.

Cherry Blossoms

On Monday we stopped by a local park to see some of the cherry blossom trees that are in bloom. The blooms were so pretty and Grace really enjoyed being out in the sunshine! We did take extra measures to keep her covered (except for a quick picture here and there) After the sunburn Friday from our walk to the park I don't think I will EVER forget sunscreen or a hat again!

A New Holiday

Today was a new holiday for us - Superbowl Monday. That's right, the Superbowl was on Monday this year! And why was it a holiday? Dustin got the entire day off from work. The Air Force and Navy were only getting 1/2 the day off (or at least that is what we have heard) But the Army gave the entire day off! This morning we got up and made cinnamon rolls and then went to the commander's house to watch the last half of the game (we watched the first half at home) I was so disappointed in the commercials this year... we didn't have ANY! Well, just the stupid AFN ones. I wanted to see the commercials that companies pay millions to put on the air. I hope I can watch them online (I get a message saying that certain things cannot be viewed from my location a lot)

Tonight we are headed to a Farewell Dinner at Kitakaisen.... hmm, I wonder what we will order?
