SNOW!

When we arrived in Germany it was snowing. Olivia got to see her first snow as soon as we stepped off the airplane. But it didn't snow as much at Chelsea's house as it did in the city where the airport is. But on Monday, it really started snowing! That evening I put Olivia in her snow suit and took her out to "play" in it.

Here are a couple pictures I took from the window of Chelsea's house.

And Olivia in the snow for the first time!

I facetimed with my Mom and Grace so that they could watch her.

She kept looking up at the window where Chelsea was holding the iPad :)

Isn't she just too cute? I think she liked the snow!

And it snowed almost all night so we had quite a bit the next morning.

And Grace got snow too! She got to build a snowman, go sledding, and have a snowball fight.

Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Saturday morning we went to Rothenburg, the city where Ellyana was born! It is a very touristy area and there are lots of shops and pretty buildings.

It is very cold so we got all bundled up. Olivia got to wear her snowsuit!

I am just going to share some of the pictures I took of the town.

We stopped at a cafe for a snack. We all got Schneeballen. Mine was chocolate. They also had cinnamon and powdered sugar. I thought Grace would like the big soda bottle and the little glass they gave me to pour it into.
And Olivia got to try the schneeballen too :)

We stopped at a Christmas store (I was able to buy all of the souvenirs we collect at one place!) and then I found a neat shop that sold rocks. I bought several for the collection Grace is starting.

Here are more pictures of the town.

On our way back we stopped at a Burger King off of the autobahn. We seemed to confuse the people working when we ordered water with our King Box. They brought out mine and Chelsea's kid meals but didn't know what we were drinking. We had both finished our lunch before they brought out Terre's food and our water! And, Grace, that little green whale is the one I got for you I think :)
And I thought Grace would like to see what their playground looks like. I think Nations of Fun is probably a lot better!
And here is a picture of the snow!!!

First Day in Deutschland

We had a fun first (full) day here. We slept pretty well. Olivia did wake up laughing and clapping a little after midnight and was ready to play. But I just snuggled up next to her and eventually she fell back asleep. After we got up and ready for the day it was time to venture out.

Ready to go! We had to stop at a couple different posts to get things squared away so I can drive and get on/off post. By the time we were finished with that is was time to eat lunch.

We stopped at the bowling alley to eat before heading to the (VERY small) commissary to get some groceries. On our back home we stopped at a German mall. They had the same type of escalators that we saw at the Jusco's in Japan - a ramp.

We went to a German grocery store and I found some candy to take back to Grace. I got her a couple other fun things too! And I bought some baby food for Olivia to try.

By the time we left the girls were so tired! They fell asleep on the way back but the nap was short lived because they were both awake shortly after we got home.

Olivia and Elly got to play together while we made dinner. It is so cute to watch them.

Olivia loved her German baby food. This one was pasta with tomato sauce and mozzarella I think. Their jars are about 1/3 bigger than the big jars we have back home and she ate almost the entire thing. That is a LOT for her. I think she liked the pieces of spaghetti in it!

And then the girls played some more after dinner. Chelsea had a balloon to welcome her home from the hospital. I let Olivia play with it and then Terre tied it around Elly's waist. She didn't seem to care but Olivia saw it and wanted to play with it too!

Traveling

Olivia is going on a trip! She is taking her very first plane ride today.

Grace gets to stay behind with Daddy (and Grandma since Daddy has to work). She is going to have so much fun! I think she is going to Nations of Fun, rock collecting, and having picnics and tea parties.

Olivia and I are going to a place where it is very cold. She will probably get to see snow for the first time. We are going to visit my best friend, Chelsea, who is recovering from shoulder surgery. We get to have lots of fun playing with Elly!

We'll be home in 2 weeks but I am going to try an update the blog often so everyone back home can see what we are doing. I am guessing Olivia is bringing back a mouthful of teeth :)
